Wednesday 17 May, is the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (https://may17.org/). This day serves as a reminder that lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer people fall victim to hateful, violent, and discriminatory acts, even in modern societies.

In an international comparison of LGBTQ+ rights, Luxembourg ranks highly and demonstrates positive development. However, despite tangible progress, internalised and externalised queerphobia remains an issue that the legal system alone cannot fix. Members of the LGBTQ+ community benefit from visibility, support and active allyship.

Take a stance and show your support! The LGBT+ Students’ Association and the Gender Equality Office at the University of Luxembourg would like to invite all members of staff and students to wear a 🌈 colourful item of clothing, a sticker, or a pin, next Wednesday 17 May.

To foster the inclusive and change-embracing environment that the university aims to achieve, it is especially important to spread awareness. The fight for equality and acceptance is not yet won.
