As part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the April 25 Revolution, the Embassy of Portugal and the Portuguese Lectureship of the Camões Institute at the University of Luxembourg – within the Institute of Romance Studies, the Department of Humanities (DHUM), and the Faculty of Humanities, Education Sciences, and Social Sciences (FHESS) – invite you to visit the exhibition “The Legacy of a Carnation” in its French version. The exhibition will be open to the public and can be visited in the lobby on the 3rd floor of the Maison du Savoir – Belval Campus in Esch-sur-Alzette, from April 24 to June 25, 2024, with the support of the Camões Institute.

Designed to be itinerant, the exhibition “The Legacy of a Carnation” consists of twelve informational panels that explore different dimensions of the Estado Novo, the events of April 25, 1974, and the period that followed until the 1976 Constitution.

This exhibition, which recalls certain events in Portugal’s history during the Estado Novo regime, especially all the freedoms that were suppressed for nearly five decades, is the result of a partnership between the Aljube Museum – Resistance and Freedom, the Documentation Center of April 25 at the University of Coimbra, Alumira Lda., and Rebobinar, with the support of the Commemorative Commission of the 50th Anniversary of April 25, the Portuguese Press Association (API), and Portuguese Radio Television (RTP).
