EU Careers Student Ambassadors Training Conference takes place in Luxembourg for the first time – including a visit to University of Luxembourg / Belval campus

Promoting “EU Careers” across European universities calls for good communication tools. EPSO relies on the EU Careers Student Ambassadors programme – a network of multipliers currently present in 182 top universities across all 27 EU Member States, for promoting careers in the EU Institutions. Since 2010, the programme has promoted EU career opportunities at selected university campuses, raising awareness about such prestigious professional career paths.

This year for the first time, this conference will take place in Luxembourg, thanks to the efforts of the REA Network (Relations with European Academia), a working group formed by representatives from all Luxembourg-based EU institutions and bodies, chaired by Alfonso de la Fuente Garrigosa. This initiative has benefited from great support from the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Luxembourg. Around 150 Student Ambassadors will be trained at this conference. We hope this event will contribute to promoting Luxembourg as a great place to live and work for the EU.

The conference programme will start on 5 October with guided tours of Luxembourg City. On 6 October, participants will visit different EU institutions and bodies in Luxembourg, including the European Court of Auditors, the Court of Justice of the EU, the European Parliament, the European Investment Bank, the European Stabilisation Mechanism, and the Center for Translation. The Students Ambassadors will learn about EU career opportunities, and get an idea about what Luxembourg has to offer for young professionals.

On the afternoon of Friday 6 October, EU Student Ambassadors will visit the University of Luxembourg’s Belval campus. Prof. Dr. Catherine Léglu, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Arnaud Dupuy, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance, will address the students to explain the rich offer of Master, PhD and research programmes offered by the University of Luxembourg.

During 7 and 8 October the Student Ambassadors will gather at the Bellevue hotel to attend workshops and presentations focusing on EU Careers, the role of EU Careers Ambassadors, and the practicalities of EPSO’s selection procedures, EU career paths and traineeships. Students will also meet EU Staff Ambassadors during a speed-networking session on 7 October.
