The curators Dr Bernhard Schmitt (Diocesan Archives Luxembourg) and Boris Fuge (Lëtzebuerg City Museum) will guide you through the exhibition and explain the origins of the Luxembourg Mother of God octave using archival documents, works of art and sacred objects from the 17th/18th century.

Against the backdrop of religious conflicts, war and the threat of epidemics, a pilgrimage to the ‘Comforter of the Afflicted’ was organised in 1624, which subsequently attracted numerous pilgrims from outside Luxembourg and is still part of the country’s spiritual and cultural heritage today.

Tour language: German
