🎨On April 23rd, Espace Cultures & Pluri Arts Atelier are happy to invite you for a visit to Konschthal, the contemporary art center in Esch-sur-Alzette, with a free guided tour of three exhibition in show.
Short description of the shows:
EAP25: Mike Bourscheid, Rozafa Elshan, Jil Lahr, and Lynn Scheidweiler
The 5th edition of the LEAP Art Prize highlights the talent of local artists, with finalists Mike Bourscheid, Rozafa Elshan, Jil Lahr, and Lynn Scheidweiler. Selected from submissions received last December, these artists have shown unique vision and contributions across various disciplines of visual arts.
The prize is dedicated to supporting local artists by enhancing their visibility and establishing a lasting presence in the contemporary art world. Each finalist will also benefit from an artistic residency at Bridderhaus.
Wolfgang Müller: Galerie Requisite
Konschthal Esch presents the first major exhibition outside Germany of Wolfgang Müller, showcasing works spanning his entire career. From his days in the art punk group Die Tödliche Doris to his explorations as a “scientist of misunderstanding,” this exhibition gathers key pieces that challenge artistic identity and societal norms. Through diverse media, Müller’s work engages with themes like nature, mythology, and social constructs, blending humor with critical insight to redefine how art interacts with reality.
Bert Theis: For a Collagist Philosophy
Bert Theis’s For a Collagist Philosophy explores the previously unreleased book project “Parabel vom Wasserbecken” by Luxembourgish artist Bert Theis (1952 – 2016). Originating from 1986, this series of collages reflects on Edward Bellamy’s satire of capitalism, “The Parable of the Water Tank,” from his novel “Equality” (1897). The exhibition presents these works alongside a broader range of Theis’s collages, probing the nature and implications of collage as both an artistic and existential medium. Theis’s work, including his Isola Art Center project, exemplifies collage not just as a technique but as a conceptual framework, transforming social spaces into living collages.
