Le Festival Cinéma du Sud a le plaisir de vous inviter à une projection-débat du film « Stop filming us but listen » qui se tiendra le jeudi 7 décembre 2023 à partir de 18h30 au Ciné Utopia.
Stop Filming Us but Listen examine de plus près le déséquilibre des pouvoirs hérité du colonialisme et ses conséquences sur la représentation de la République démocratique du Congo (RDC)
Dans son documentaire Stop Filming Us, qui se déroule dans la ville de Goma en RDC, le cinéaste néerlandais Joris Postema examine le lien entre les stéréotypes et ce rapport de force déséquilibré. Après une projection de Stop Filming Us à Goma, le public s’est demandé si le film pouvait raconter une histoire différente en utilisant les mêmes images. En collaboration avec le producteur Ganza Buroko, les réalisateurs Bernadette Vivuya et Kagoma Twahirwa ont remonté les images pour en faire une version qui reflète mieux leur point de vue et rende justice à leurs propres expériences.

The Festival Cinéma du Sud is pleased to invite you to a screening-debate of the film “Stop filming us but listen” to be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 6:30pm at Ciné Utopia.
Stop Filming Us but Listen takes a closer look at the power imbalance inherited from colonialism and its consequences for the representation of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
In his documentary Stop Filming Us, set in the DRC town of Goma, Dutch filmmaker Joris Postema examines the link between stereotypes and this unbalanced balance of power. After a screening of Stop Filming Us in Goma, the audience wondered whether the film could tell a different story using the same images. Working with producer Ganza Buroko, directors Bernadette Vivuya and Kagoma Twahirwa reassembled the footage into a version that better reflected their point of view and did justice to their own experiences.
