OVERVIEW (approximately 90 minutes)
Introduction – Ms Chiaki Watanabe and Ms Aya Konno, from ‘Sense of Beauty’ in Japan, will present the history of the kimono, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at its manufacture, a rarely seen world of craftsmanship. They will introduce you to the realities and challenges faced by artisans, and the passion and soul they breathe into their work. The lecture will also include an exploration of the ‘kimono dress’ (modern version).
How to wear the traditional kimono – A Japanese kimono master in Luxembourg will demonstrate how to wear and tie the traditional kimono.
Kimono try-on – At the end, you will have the opportunity to try on both a traditional kimono and a modern kimono.
