MIS 10th Anniversary – Events Students Can Attend

The MIS (Migration and Inclusive Societies) 10th anniversary celebrates a decade of research and collaboration on migration and inclusion at the University of Luxembourg. Several activities throughout the day are open to students and offer opportunities to learn, exchange ideas, and meet leading scholars in the field.

Poster Exhibition – from 13:00 onwards
Location: Black Box (grey mobile walls)
From early afternoon, you can visit a poster exhibition featuring the work of former and current MIS members. The posters highlight research on migration, transnationalism, and inclusive societies, as well as the ongoing work of the MIS Consortium. This is a useful stop for students looking for inspiration for research topics or wanting to see how academic projects evolve over time.

Doctoral Colloquium on Migration and Transnationalism – 10:00–11:30
Location: MSA 2.390
Usually restricted to doctoral researchers, this session is exceptionally open to Master’s students for the anniversary. It offers a chance to observe doctoral-level debate and engage with key concepts in migration studies. Prof. Thomas Faist, one of the most influential scholars in the field, will join the discussion.

Book Presentation – 15:30–17:00
Speaker: Prof. Sergio Moldes-Anaya
This event presents the edited volume Migration, Inclusiveness and Sustainability, which includes contributions from MIS members. The talk will outline the book’s core ideas and open a discussion with attendees. Students interested in sustainability, inequality, or social policy will find this particularly valuable.

Public Lecture and Reception – 18:00–21:00
Speaker: Prof. Thomas Faist
The day ends with a major public lecture on Migration, Inequalities and the National State. It is followed by a reception, giving students a relaxed moment to network with researchers, faculty members, and fellow attendees.
